Strategic Alliances

We are working both independently and through strategic collaborations and alliances to accelerate the development and commercialization of our drug discovery programs. We have established alliances with Bristol-Myers Squibb for the discovery, development and commercialization of novel small molecule drugs in the neuroscience field; with Genentech to conduct advanced research on a broad subset of biologic targets included in Genentech's SPDI program and validated using our gene knockout technology to develop new biotherapeutic drugs based on certain targets selected from the alliance, in pursuant to which we may develop and commercialize drugs for up to six of the targets included in the alliance; with Organon to jointly discover, develop and commercialize novel biotherapeutics based on a distinct group of 300 potential biologic targets. In addition, we have established collaborations and license agreements with many other leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies under which we receive fees and, in many cases, are eligible to receive milestone and royalty payments on products that our collaborators and licensees develop using our technology.
