Our Goal: 10TO10
Bringing innovative drugs to market requires a true commitment to the development of breakthrough treatments. To focus our commitment, Lexicon has set an aggressive but achievable goal we call 10TO10.
Our goal is to advance ten drug candidates into human clinical trials by the end of 2010. With three years to go, we are well on our way:
- Clinical trials are underway for four drug candidates,
- Three additional candidates are in preclinical development, and;
- Three more candidates are in advanced discovery and drug development.
Over and above these ten advanced candidates, Lexicon has identified and validated more than 100 promising drug discovery targets covering a wide range of therapeutic areas. This robust pipeline presages a promising future and is a credit to our Genome5000 program. Initiated in 2001, this effort to discover the function of 5,000 mammalian genes is nearly complete. These efforts, together with our state-of-the-art medicinal chemistry facility, and dedicated chemistry and biotherapeutics teams, provide Lexicon with the means to rapidly develop small and large molecule modulators to our validated targets.
In addition to our strong proprietary pipeline, we are developing additional drug candidates with selected pharmaceutical companies to maximize our success in developing breakthrough therapeutics.
The 10TO10 program reflects Lexicon’s evolving role as a biopharmaceutical company developing novel small molecule and biologic drug candidates to fight human disease.
